The mission of the Bone & Joint Reconstruction Research Center of the Shafa Orthopedic Hospital is to perform integrated, state-of-the-art research into the musculoskeletal system with the goal of understanding disease processes and developing new treatments. A group of scientists pursue research programs in the structure, function, and pathology of musculoskeletal tissues, and interact with clinicians who also conduct research. The researches of this center are focused on the five main categories including: hand and shoulder surgeries, hip joint surgeries, knee joint surgeries, musculoskeletal tumor surgeries, and spine surgeries. Parallel to the clinical investigations, basic science scientists of the center are focused on the molecular pathogenesis of musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, etc.
